On your first consultation the practitioner will complete a thorough assessment of your condition and talk to you about your lifestyle and how your condition is effecting that. They will also talk to you about your diagnosis and discuss a treatment plan with you. They will also start some treatment during your first appointment.
If you have had any other investigations for this condition such as X-rays or scans, please bring a copy of the report with you if you have it.

Our Physiotherapists are chartered and registered with the Health Professions Council. A Chartered Physiotherapist is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) which is the professional regulatory body of the profession. This means that the physiotherapist has undergone an approved course of training, and is governed by a professional code of practice. The physiotherapist is also insured to provide treatment services. Our Physiotherapists have varying areas of expertise so our Receptionist will ask the nature of your problem to book you with the most appropriate team member.
You do not need to have a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist at Ankerside. However, if you plan to claim from medical health insurance, your insurers may insist that you see a Doctor first. Make sure you check the details of your scheme. We are registered with all major insurance companies.
We suggest that you wear comfortable clothing, The physiotherapist will need to examine the area of the body that is troubling you and also areas that may be linked to your problem.
You may be asked to undress to enable us to assess the area needing treatment so please wear appropriate clothing eg if top half of body is being treated wear vest top and separate bottoms, if lower body please wear wide leg trousers or shorts as we will need to expose the area/body part being treated.
If you feel at all uncomfortable about undressing, please discuss it with your Physiotherapist you are welcome to bring a chaperone with you.
